I've said it before and I'll probably say it again, but the older I get, the less interested I am in multiplayer games. The very idea of sharing my time with a bunch of abusive teenagers screaming slurs at me through bad headset microphones doesn't seem like much of a good time. Since the introduction of voice chat in multiplayer games, you couldn't even pay me to take part in the absolute shit show that is contemporary online multiplayer gaming.
I've always been sceptical about real-world escape rooms for a number of reasons, not least because it would mean trying to gather a suitable group of people to go with. Then there's the chance that the whole ordeal would be far too easy, or ridiculously difficult, wasting whatever money you spent on the entry fee. Plus, the cost has always been a barrier to escape rooms in my local area, as they seem to always be on the higher end of what seems affordable. It's nice to know then, that there are other options available to people like me, who probably aren't going to get to a real world escape room anytime soon.
Couch co-op games have never really been a big thing in my gaming life, simply because I'm very rarely in the position where I have someone to share the couch (and the game) with in the first place. Although I tried my best when I was younger, always attempting to get my friends playing NBA Jam and Mortal Kombat as much as I could, but to no avail. In fact, the most I've ever played any couch co-op with anyone else has been with the golf game: Tiger Wood's PGA Tour 11. I mean, anything is more fun with friends, so I eventually learned to take what I could get and play whatever those around me were interested in.
It's no secret that I’m a big fan of the big budget open world games we've come to expect from some of the most popular series in gaming. What I love most is the amount of detail and deliberate effort that has gone into creating a world. It's something unique to 'triple A' games in particular, as they have the team and budget to make it happen in a way that wouldn't otherwise be possible.
