Sometimes you need to take a moment to reassess a project and use the experiences you’ve had along the way to improve on the initial brief. It helps avoid any unnecessary complications, as well as breathing new life into something. The latter is especially important for long-form projects, like these weekly doodles and posts.

Up until now my focus has probably been more on exploring the process of creativity, than producing an amount of work. Even though the driving force behind each post is an ambition to doodle more frequently, I still manage to focus on other things more often than not.

It's why this post is another late post, and why there are only three doodles on this page. I just got distracted over the last week and other things caught my attention more. There's nothing wrong with that per se, but it goes against one of the main reasons I started this. It might not have been the main focus a lot of the time, but I do actually want to draw more and wax on about concepts a little less.

Thus, I'm changing things up a little.

Moving forward I plan to write less in each of these posts, and focus more on visual representations instead. Put simply, I just want to produce a higher quantity than I have up to now. It might be a bad idea, but I love change and it could lead to some interesting developments. Ultimately we won't know until we try.

I'd like to focus on doodling more than I can throw together in an hour or so. I tried to focus more on drawing every day, but that didn't work as well as I would have hoped. Reality is that a lot of the doodles you see posted here are done within a few days of being posted.

Learning these lessons is a great way to evolve and move on to greener pastures, so I have no misgivings about any previous efforts. I'm hoping that focusing on quantity will create some interesting galleries each week. I'm also hoping that there will be enough to just write a few comments on the pictures, instead of getting all theoretical.

So that's the plan, but we'll see how it pans out over the coming weeks. There's nothing like a shift in perspective and goals to fuel a bit of motivation, so I'm feeling pretty excited. Just remember that the focus is about to be on quantity, and it's never been about quality.
