There's still a lot that I want to talk about when the time is right, but we're not quite there yet. I still need to confirm one large part of the project I'm working on before I can really start blabbing. Until then, let's try and talk about some practical painting experiences.

It's funny how every time I sit down to write this weekly post, I always want to focus on things that have no relevance. What I mean is that I'm trying to keep this particular series focused on creativity and everything related to it. The hard part is that sometimes it feels like everything informs our creative output without question.
I'm pleased to say that 'operation quantity' is going quite well. In fact, I present to you another set of doodles that continues to grow. There aren't any digital doodles this week, but they're only a sometimes bonus either way. It's all pens and paper, which is right where I like to be.
I'm sure we've all heard it before, but sometimes coming up with a creative idea is as difficult as any other test of skill. Maybe you've heard the stories about writers staring at blank pages, artists gazing over white canvas, or musicians droning through random noise. There are times that the pursuit of an idea can feel impossibly unsurmountable, but then there are times when the dam bursts, and the rush is beyond euphoric.
Ooh la la, it's only one week until a full year of weekly doodles passes us by. The best part of any anniversary is if it arrives along with good timing and motivation, which I'm happy to say this one seems to be on track for.
There's a saying among creative thinkers that goes something along the lines of "if you only work from within, you will repeat yourself". That's the gist of it anyway, which speaks to the need for external stimulation and inspiration. Of course, I like to take it a little further and apply it to life in general, which ends up justifying the need for diverse perspectives and opinions.
Happiest of brand new years to you all, ladies and gentlemen of the ever present internet. I'm starting the year in a pretty good state of mind, with opportunities ahead and difficulties passed. I probably said it before, but let's avoid the tangents today and take a look at some purely artistic goals for the coming year.
So I've been thinking about where style comes from and what (if any) are the pre-requisites to defining style. I don't mean the concept of having style; rather creating a particular recognisable style that permeates its way through your work. You know how you can pick a Picasso just by looking at it most of the time, that kind of style. Not the kind that you buy at a shop and wear for a few months before donating it to the local op-shop.
It never ceases to amaze me just how much we rely on interpretation and assumption to gauge our place in the world. Often we attempt to attach meaning to the mundane, despite the subjective nature of experience. Yet we dare to draw on experience for inspiration when we can hardly trust our own reality at the best of times. There must be a way to test the boundaries of the universe and come to a shared knowledge for universal interaction.
I'm at a bit of a loss when thinking about a theme for this week's post, as it's been a long and busy week. At the same time I've had a fairly pleasurable week on account of picking up some new music, which I find always inspires creativity. So maybe that's something to talk about…
Nonsense is a pretty common theme in life at the best of times. As humans there are a lot of behaviours and norms that can always be attributed to nonsense, on account of there being little reasoning behind most of what we do. Of course there's fabricated reasoning if you look at absolute universal truths and it's entirely subjective to what you believe, but even this subjectivity could be seen as lacking in sense.
There are always a few key elements of any day that can spark an idea. It could be as vague as a feeling or a concept; or sometimes a complete and detailed image will unveil itself from somewhere within. This week it's been music that inspired a couple of doodles from song names I hadn't heard in a long time.
