It's been two and a bit years of doing weekly art posts, but I'm kind of ready to stop.

I've really been dropping the ball lately when it comes to being a bloggy kind of person. However, there's good reason and I'll be back on track eventually, which I've no doubt mentioned too often already. In the absence of something more interesting to talk about, this week will be about future plans for this thing you're reading.
After approximately two years of sketchbook doodles, it's time for a change.
It's funny how time can take its time sometimes. It feels like time doesn't have the time to let time pass in a timely manner. Instead sticking to time frame that's dense with readable ticks of time that's terrible when all you want to witness is the passing of time.
Whenever tragedy strikes, it leaves us with a mixed bag of emotions and thought. Of course there's the sadness of loss, but this week I think I'd like to look at the creative inspiration we can draw from personal tragedy.
There's still a lot that I want to talk about when the time is right, but we're not quite there yet. I still need to confirm one large part of the project I'm working on before I can really start blabbing. Until then, let's try and talk about some practical painting experiences.
It's funny how every time I sit down to write this weekly post, I always want to focus on things that have no relevance. What I mean is that I'm trying to keep this particular series focused on creativity and everything related to it. The hard part is that sometimes it feels like everything informs our creative output without question.
Honestly, I almost forgot to write and post this week's sketchbook, but not for any reason that will sound impressive. In fact, I was too busy finishing off a game, and watching a movie. I was actually super prepared and already have my doodles scanned and ready to post; it's just the written part that slipped my mind.
It's not often that I get to be happy about a lack of content, but when it's the result of being productive in other ways, I'm cool with it. So this week there's only a few doodles to show, as I've been spending more and more time putting paint on canvas.
It was bound to happen sometime, but I skipped sketchbook 84 last week thanks to a bunch of personal commitments and generally being too busy. The up side is that part of the distraction was related to a big art project, so I figure it all balances out in the end. I'm still not keen on skipping weeks, so here's hoping it's a rare occurrence either way.
Last time I mentioned that I'll be changing things up a little to try and up the quantity of doodles in each post. So this week I'm pleased to say that I have twelve new doodles, as well as a little bit of discussion on how they came about.
This week is all about enabling creativity, as it's been a central focus for me in recent times. It can often be seen as a way to procrastinate or delay the start of a project, but ensuring that creativity has an opportunity to grow might be the most important part of the process.
Tap tap tap.
Every now and then I get a bit of feedback about something I've been working on and it makes me think a bit about how others perceive what I only know from the inside. I love getting feedback, but it always amazes me how often the focus is put on the final product instead of the process. It's why I know I'm a bit more obsessed with process than end results, but there are some interesting points to consider.
Oh boy oh boy oh boy. What a week it has been to get those creative juices flowing. In a lot of ways it's been a week of ignoring any attempts at creativity and focusing on other things to let it naturally arise. It doesn't always work, but it feels good either way.
Sometimes you just have to draw some dumb stuff to fill in space where some graphics might be needed. I've been updating my portfolio lately, so there are only a few doodles this week, which are all intended to be filler.
I don't think I'll ever stop being surprised at how wonderful a little bit of change can be. Whenever I'm in a funk and can't seem to find my way out, just changing up some simple details can make everything bright again. So it is that this week I have something a little different to show you, after last week's disappointing lack of content.
Whenever Easter rolls around I thank the good gracious creator that she showed me the light and steered me into work that doesn't require baking tens of thousands of hot cross buns on Good Friday. Instead, I've had a pretty chilled out weekend of holidays, and seeing as I have little to do with the big JC, it's an excuse to turn down the noise and relax for four days.
This week the doodles have created a direct link between the two halves of this blog - art and gaming. In fact, it's nice to have a reason to think about the link between the two, but I suspect this won't be exactly what most people think of when relating art to games.
Ooh la la, it's only one week until a full year of weekly doodles passes us by. The best part of any anniversary is if it arrives along with good timing and motivation, which I'm happy to say this one seems to be on track for.
